Minimum refuge

Charcoal on wooden paddles, iron knife
180 x 120 x 45 cm

Shelters are never a home, they constructions on human scale built to observe the exterior with a certain illusion of security. This piece is based on a tripod, the most simple structure to build a shelter, made with two paddles and a knife. The paddles are made of pine wood, an unusual material, but related with death rituals and the Galician landscape. The knife continues that same rhetorical path, enhancing the precariousness of the balance and the falsely defensive nature of the construction.
