Patinated plaster, wax, lacquer, bitumen and wood
9 x 21 x 4,5 cm
This work takes as a starting point the primitive forms of the niches excavated in stone of the religious architecture of the Ribeira Sacra (Galicia). Among the three main types of architectural gaps in the wall —the window, the door and the niche— the latter is the only one that does not pierce it, remaining like a hiatus in the wall. In this way he acquires the ability to evoke the spiritual by himself. The small size of this piece and its elevated position on the wall refer to a domestic and human-scaled religiosity.
