Doorkijkje. 7 miradas para 12 puntos de vista is a performance created around the exhibition Pongo mi pie desnudo en el umbral by Christian García Bello at Fundación DIDAC, as part of the Festival Plataforma program.
Doorkijkje. 7 miradas para 12 puntos de vista is a piece in which the body—through its gestures and movements, its sound, its actions, and the chromatic presence of its clothing—becomes part of the exhibition’s sculptural framework, integrating itself as one more work within the space.
Structured in seven parts, referencing the canonical hours—the medieval time system used in Christian monastic traditions across Europe to mark the rhythm of daily prayers—the performance begins with a bare foot at the threshold of the exhibition’s central doorway. From there, it unfolds in a continuous loop for nearly two hours.
Throughout this duration, a sequence of daily routines takes shape, gradually mapping a specific cartography onto the floor. With each step, the resin stones bound to the soles of the feet begin to crumble, leaving a trace in their wake. The ritualistic and the domestic merge through actions of grinding, sharpening, praying, gazing, braiding hair—gestures that unravel both the material and formal aspects of the exhibited pieces, as well as themes extracted from the exhibition’s accompanying narrative: pilgrimage, punishment, spirituality, female sexuality, landscape, the value of vernacular language, the resistant act of stillness, and gestural memory.
Doorkijkje. 7 miradas para 12 puntos de vista is, ultimately, the relentless walking of a Dirse who is only ever revealed in fragments to twelve spectators, each positioned at different vantage points within the space.
