Ex-votos are votive offerings to the divine, placed in sacred sites. Their history stretches back into the depths of time, and in the Iberian Peninsula, their refinement dates to the dawn of Celtic and Iberian cultures during the Iron Age. Due to their materiality and their spiritual and cultural expressiveness, ex-votos form the shared root that intertwines the traditions of sculpture and jewelry.
Caraluna is an exhibition where the vernacular forms of Spain’s protohistory, the popular shapes of the emotional landscape of Atlantic Galicia, and an intricate alchemical interplay around the poetics of materials converge. Through this visual and sculptural narrative, Christian García Bello rhythmically inhabits and punctuates the Sansoeurs boutique with his work.
