Seventeen thousand two hundred and twenty seven feet and two castilian rods
Charcoal on pinewood, paper, glass, thirty-six grams of salt.
17,227 feet and two rods is the distance in Castilian measures which I perceive my own horizon if I place myself standing at sea level. The system, such as Anglo, is prior to the international measures system and is based on the human dimensions ad its work capacity. This piece, like the entire series, is built around what happens on the horizon we perceive, and specifically what happens at sea, hence the 36 grams of salt hidden in a glass: the concentration of salt per liter existing in the Atlantic ocean.
